President Trump on Friday will host several 2016-2017 NCAA championship teams at the White House.

SC head women's basketball coach Dawn Staley made her first remarks Friday after releasing a statement saying her team was skipping a White House invitation to focus on the season.

"We couldn't find a date that worked for both parties", a spokesman for the team told the Raleigh News & Observer in September.

Oklahoma won its first men's golf national title since 1989 when the coach Ryan Hybl-led team knocked off OR in Sugar Grove, Ill.

You may remember the drama around the president, Steph Curry, and the National Basketball Association champion Golden State Warriors back in September.

The South Carolina women's basketball team is busy defending its national title.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report. And, of course, the president has had some choice words for other NFL players choosing to protest by kneeling during the national anthem.

The White House invited numerous college championship teams to an event on Friday.

"As I've been saying since our practices for this season started, all of our focus is on the season ahead", she said. "The only invitation we are thinking about is to the 2018 NCAA Tournament".

Trump is scheduled to host championship teams "from around the country", according to the president's public schedule. The teams will be honored at the White House for their achievements, and then spend the rest of the day sightseeing. Staley, who coached the team to the title back in April, had been out in the dark on an invitation until recently.
