Chevrolet's 2019 Corvette ZR1, which was to debut Sunday, Nov. 12, at the Dubai International Motor Show, features an exclusive 6.2-liter supercharged LT5 engine capable of 755 hp and 715 pound-feet of torque and a top speed of more than 210 miles per hour - making it the fastest production Corvette ever.
Dubai, with its affluence of exotic supercars is not exactly out of place for the Corvette ZR1's long-awaited reveal - "The King is returning, stronger than ever", according to the manufacturer, and the mod does have true meaning.
GM revealed the auto at a studio sound stage on Sunday, and it will be featured at the Dubai Motor Show on Tuesday where it will be shown with many other six- and seven-figure luxury vehicles. By the way, the engine also produces a massive 715 lb-ft (968 Nm) of torque. Optionally, customers can fit their new 2019 ZR1 with heated and ventilated Nappa leather seats, a carbon-fiber adorned steering wheel and Performance Data Recorder, among other things.
This new supercar will also come with the optional high wing, which Chevy says will create an estimated 950 pounds of downforce when in use.
The "high wing" package adds a corresponding GT3-style rear wing, as well as Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, a re-calibrated suspension tuning and magnetic ride control dampers. Both wings are bolted directly to the chassis just like on a C7.R race vehicle, for strength and stability. That's all from an LT5 6.2 litre direct-injected V8 - still fitted with pushrods, mind you - force-fed by an intercooled supercharger 52% larger than the one in the Z06.More news: Anzac relations strained over Manus crisis
The hood is made from lightweight carbon fiber and features an open "halo" design that shows the V8's supercharger/ intercooler assembly. For its application in the fifth-gen model, it gets General Motors' (GM) first application of a dual-injection system which features both direction injection and supplemental port injection.
If track times are more important you can option the ZTK Performance Package that brings a range of more high performance extras.
The Corvette ZR1 introduced today also debuted a dynamic, available Sebring Orange Design Package. Aside from giving it a very noticeable Sebring Orange hue, it also paints the brake calipers, rocker and splitter accents, seat belts and interior contrast stitching with the brightly-colored hue.
Chevrolet may be talking up the 2019 Corvette ZR1's biggest numbers, but the smallest are production goals.
