College party turns to terror after floor collapses

Officials said no major injuries were reported, but a few people were treated for minor injuries on the scene, according to NBC 5.

The apartment complex in Denton, Texas is sealed off after a floor collapsed at a college party.

The dramatic moment was caught on cell phone video and shows several students falling through a gaping hole in the floor.

A party at the University of North Texas was apparently so lit this weekend that the floor actually collapsed.

"I have nowhere to go".

University of Nort Texas junior Abiola Busari hosted a homecoming party in this multi-story student apartment building.

Carley Carroll, who lives in the apartment below, was not home when the ceiling fell.

CBS DFW said the nightmare for students began at around 1:45 a.m. Sunday when the Denton Fire Departments responded to a report of a fire alarm. "That's life threatening. If we were in our living room, we wouldn't have made it out because by what we've seen, it's just completely gone".

That's when the floor gave out under the weight of the crowd, sending dozens of people into the second floor apartment below. Fifty other residents are also displaced.

Police told FOX 4 they believe there was 100 people at the party.

Carroll says it isn't the first time she's called the cops on the apartment above. Police say those type of calls are low priority in nature and people have usually left the party by the time officers arrive.

An investigation into the structural failing is now underway, while apartment management and the university have worked to help secure housing in dorms or hotels for affected students in the building.
