Nigeria, Algeria share points in world cup qualifier

English Championship club Hull City have sent a congratulatory message to Ola Aina who made his first start for the Super Eagles in their 1-1 away draw against Algeria in their final Group B Russian Federation 2018 World Cup qualifier in Constantine on Friday.

In his post-match reaction after the game in Constantine, Balogun appreciates the Nigerian fans for their unflinching support and says it is a great honour to lead the team out in the last 2018 World Cup qualifying game.

Having qualified for the football mundial in Russian Federation, the Eagles went into the game bereft of pressure, as a loss would have made no impact in the overall scheme of things.

Nigeria's coach, Gernot Rohr, dropped the skipper, John Obi Mikel, for Israeli-based John Ogu and his decision paid off as the midfielder struck in the 61st minute of the tie.

But, just when the visitors appeared to be leaving Constantine with the maximum points, Yacine Brahimi rescued a point for Madjer's men with a late spot-kick.

Media Officer of the Super Eagles, Toyin Ibitoye, confirmed yesterday that the global friendly with Argentina will kick off by 5pm Nigerian time. Algeria failed to qualify for World Cup and they will have Mahrez and Slimani in Friday's match.
