Loftus-Cheek relishes regular play at Crystal Palace after Chelsea 'journey'

Sport pundit Danny Mills has admitted that he was underwhelmed by Tottenham's Eric Dier in his performance for England against Germany on Friday night.

Cook captained the side and has played six times for Bournemouth this season, with four of those appearances coming in the Premier League. It was good for us young players and I certainly learned a lot.

The stand-out performer was Ruben Loftus-Cheek who despite failing to break into the Chelsea first-team, showed he has the quality to compete on the worldwide stage.

"I think we did well".

"He has great technical quality, dribbling ability, power, I think he's a really exciting player".

But despite seeing his on-pitch development stall while training with Chelsea's first team at Cobham, Loftus-Cheek insisted he feels no bitterness towards his parent club and actually thinks he has benefited from the experience.

Despite the new faces in contention for England starting spots, the average age for the expected starting side is 25-years-old, but Higginbotham believes that will only get lower as younger players - including those from the U21s - are handed more regular senior worldwide game time. "There are no guarantees but I have a better chance of playing, so being at Palace gives me the platform to learn and develop". "I have a good relationship with Eddie Newton [Chelsea's loan technical coach] and Eddie is helping me behind the scenes".

"The manager has said do your best".

But it was not just Loftus-Cheek who caught the eye.

The Three Lions' starting lineup was made up of just one player aged 30 or over - Jamie Vardy - while five stars were handed their senior bows by Southgate on the Wembley turf.

"We'll see whether Phil [Jones] stays with us, definitely Angus [Gunn] following the injury to Jack [Butland]", Southgate confirmed when asked which players could be promoted for Tuesday's clash with Brazil. If we had won then it would have been better but the other games come thick and fast. "For me, it was a real positive tonight".
