In one of the biggest searches carried out by Income Tax department, over 1,000 officials were involved in simultaneous search at over a 100 premises belonging to relatives and supporters of jailed AIADMK leader VK Sasikala, and companies managed by her family members across Tamil Nadu.
Officers have reportedly been checking the office of a Tamil daily Namadhu MGR and Jaya TV network.
Jaya TV and Namadhu MGR were the mouthpiece of the ruling AIADMK but has become a strong critic of the state government following a rift between Sasikala and Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisami.
"This is a clear case of political vendetta", alleges an MLA in the TTV Dhinakaran faction.

Raid locations included Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Trichy, Coimbatore and other districts at properties belonging to Sasikala's family members and associates.
"I heard that raids are taking place at my farm house, it is a lonely place". We will not allow the party behind the raids to spread roots in Tamilnadu, ' he said. "Now, they will just claim that they got a tip off as a reason to not send a show cause notice ahead of the raids", he adds.
Ever since the demise of former CM and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa in December a year ago, the AIADMK has been witnessing infighting threatening to pull down the government.
Raids are also being conducted at the Domlur residence of Pugazhendi, AIADMK Karnataka in-charge. The deputy propaganda secretary said, 'These raids are done clearly with a political agenda.
Dinakaran and Sasikala head a group inside the decision AIADMK for control of the gathering, which right now is in the hands of boss priest E Palanisami and his agent O Panneerselvam.
Asserting that the I-T action against him and Sasikala's close aides was being "orchestrated by the Centre; EPS (Palaniswamy) and OPS (Panneerselvam) are both behind this" Dhinakaran said: "I will not bow down".
