Pack Your Bags: WOW Air Is Offering $99 Flights to Europe


Wow Air, the low cost carrier, is upfront about its no-frills approach to flying.

It says that the fare is less than the cost of the taxes - so it's essentially paying for passengers to fly. The cheap flights from New York City's JFK will begin on April 28, 2018.

The UK has the highest taxes on airfares in the world, so this means that at its lowest price-point the journey is £24 cheaper than the cost of tax alone.

The airline said: 'Whether travellers are seeking family vacations, romantic getaways or individual adventures, the incredible value flights will bring the city that never sleeps even closer'.

In a statement, CEO Skúli Mogensen said NY is "filled with culture, one-of-a-kind art, diverse cuisines and travelers" and that the airline is "excited to offer" low fares to more East Coast residents. 'Air Passenger Duty in the United Kingdom is one of the highest in the world and we would love to change this.

The low-priced carrier said it is "essentially paying for passengers to fly" as it celebrates a new service to the Big Apple's JFK International.

Already operating a route to Newark Liberty International Airport, the airline also now offers routes to Chicago, Pittsburgh, Miami, Toronto, Boston, Montreal, Washington DC and Californian destinations Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Yep, Icelandic airline WOW are now flogging a flight from Stansted to NY for less than a hundred quid.

Making flights to the United States oh-so wonderfully affordable, WOW air has just announced an exciting new route.

Travelers can also book $99 one-way flights out of several other US cities the airline already operates out of, with return rates starting at $189.99 (return rates fluctuate depending on the date of travel).
