Razer reveals its first mobile gaming phone

The Razer smartphone is a true gaming device in every respect and from the looks of it, the company didn't compromise at any point and in fact delivers more than even what the hardcore gamers would demand.

The Razer Phone features UltraMotion adaptive refresh technology, which synchronizes the display and GPU to remove any lags or motion distortion.

Aping the Nextbit Robin design also means there's a big bezel on the top and bottom of the phone with front-firing Dolby Atmos speakers built in. Razer's headphone audio here is provided by a USB-C converter since it does not have a headphone jack, mind you. You aren't going to notice the difference between a 60Hz and a 120Hz refresh rate when staring at the Android lock screen, and 8GB of RAM isn't going to make Google Hangouts run more quickly. The name of the cell phone is specified as Razer Phone and will keep running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the case.

Elsewhere the Razer Phone packs a large 4000mAh battery, Qualcomm 4+ Quick Charge, 64GB of internal storage (expandable), and an 8MP front-facing camera, and dual-camera system with a 12MP wide angle lens and a 13MP telephoto lens.

Razer's first smartphone sticks to what the company knows best: gaming.

Razer CEO and co-founder Min-Liang Tan spoke at the launch: "It's common knowledge that I'm obsessed with my smartphones, I play a ton of games on them, and they're my go-to for streaming content".

The device will be available in the market on November 17.

The company has shied away from calling its phone a "gaming phone", most likely for fears of association with the ill-fated Nokia N-Gage or even Sony's Xperia Play.

In a grand launch event, Razer proudly launched their smartphone which has been truly created to be the ultimate gaming phone anyone could get their hands on.

The Razer Phone's sleek, 8-mm-thin aluminum body is a beauty to behold and to hold. Is this the ideal phone for gaming?

The price of Razer phone is $699.

Dave Dyson, CEO at Three UK, said: "My ambition is always to innovate in ways that deliver better experiences to our customers and a partnership with Razer is a ideal fit". The speakers are placed so that they do not obstruct the gamers while playing. The standard model will be available with a Black logo.
