Workplace Chat is adding a desktop app. A year after Facebook officially launched Workplace, an enterprise version of its social network for communicating with your co-workers, the company has 30,000 businesses using the service, up from roughly 1,000 businesses a year ago and 14,000 businesses six months ago.

"Now, we're offering a messaging-focused experience through Workplace Chat, both on desktop and mobile", said Julien Codorniou, Vice President, Workplace by Facebook.

It has been a year since Facebook first introduced Workplace and it released a few numbers on the success of the platform. That means it is now easier to find the groups on Workplace by Facebook that you use more often. For the unfamiliar, the Workplace is a #Social Networking Site designed especially for businesses and organizations to connect.

It would also bring interactive video chat session, as well as video conferencing. They can either collaborate for a group project and chat within a chat group. The team also recently signed a deal with Walmart, the largest private employer in the world. It also made a significant difference in how other companies viewed it as a service. And Facebook is in the process of aggressively expanding the team's ranks with open job listings for growth managers and salespeople.

Additionally, Facebook is giving existing Workplace apps a fresh coat of paint with a new look which is more consistent across different platforms. The firm is now focusing on increasing the number of people who are using the enterprise software as it would favor Facebook's pay-per-user business model.
