Mychael Knight, former 'Project Runway' star, has died at 39

He returned for Project Runway All-Stars, which now airs on the Lifetime network.

Knight passed away on October 17 outside Atlanta after recently checking into a hospital for treatment for intestinal issues, TMZ reports.

"We are still processing the untimely death of our son, brother, friend, and uncle", the Instagram statement read.

According to Entertainment Weekly, he first auditioned for Bravo's "Project Runway" during its second season in 2005 but didn't make the cut.

"He made sure that anybody who was in his core circle, his family, his friends, didn't have to want for anything".

We are sad to report that Mychael Knight has passed away at the age of 39. "This is how we choose to remember his legacy". He was generous and so full of life.

"We are saddened to hear about the passing of a member of the Project Runway family", Perez said. Knight was known for being a fan favorite on Project Runway and came in fourth place on the competition. "It's a loss of a great talent and we wish his family peace and solace during this hard time".

Knight was born in Nuremberg, Germany and spent his childhood in Montgomery Alabama. Mychael Knight majored in apparel design and merchandising and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Georgia Southern University.

After appearing on Project Runway, Knight launched his own label and more recently released his Spring/Summer 2018 line. Other recent accomplishments include a line of custom t-shirts for Starbucks, a male and female lingerie label called Kitty & Dick, and his MajK unisex fragrance.

He showed during New York Fashion Week just last month.
