Arby's bringing back venison sandwiches for one day only

Arby's brand president and chief marketing officer, Rob Lynch, said customers should expect similar demand for the sandwiches when the offering expands to the new locations.

The famed "home of the meats" is expanding that title to include deer and elk. A spokesperson for the Atlanta-based company said they are going nationwide after last year's positive response to the limited release.

Arby's is living up to its "we have the meats" slogan with the debut of its venison sandwich.

Author's note: As someone who grew up deer hunting and eating venison, I have a hard time believing rugged Pennsylvania outdoorsmen are craving Arby's when they think of their big-game delicacy. It's topped with a juniper berry sauce and served on a toasted roll. Elk sandwiches will be available in select markets in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana. "It's a flawless example of the level of innovation coming from our teams and our commitment to creating experiences that guests can only get at Arby's". The special sandwiches will be available at restaurants located at 200 East 144th Ave., Thornton, Colo.; 2607 CY Ave., Casper, Wyo.; and 2834 King Ave.

Similarly, Arby's introduced a Smokehouse Pork Belly Sandwich in late April, available through May.
