Jurgen Klopp told to build Liverpool FC defence worthy of Philippe Coutinho

Barcelona had a number of bids rejected in the summer for the 25-year-old with Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) insisting that no offers would be considered no matter how high.

After missing out on Coutinho, Barcelona's sporting director Albert Soler claimed that the club had decided against a move for the player after Liverpool had ultimately demanded €200m (£183m).

Yet despite Grau's comments, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague remains doubtful that Barça will actually submit a bid for the Brazilian in January.

Having missed out on the signing of Philippe Coutinho during the summer, Barcelona are ready to make another offer for the Liverpool star in January.

Saga transfer of Coutinho became the center of European public attention in the transfer market last summer.

"We are prepared to sign Coutinho or other players but the proposal has to come from the technical staff". What we want is to have the most competitive squad possible.

Liverpool have struggled with defensive problems in the current campaign and the Reds have already conceded 12 times in seven games.

Philippe Coutinho has a "pact" with Liverpool which would allow him to leave the club for Barcelona in January, according to reports in Spain.

It would be a big move, swapping his homeland for Brazil, but if Coutinho does move on he may find it hard to replace a man he is likely to idolise given the latter's own journey.
