One of the biggest injuries from Week 5, with two games yet to be completed, happened when New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham went down with a severe-looking left leg injury late in Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Giants coach Ben McAdoo said Monday he spoke with Beckham and referred to his injury as a "sad situation". Fellow wideout Dwayne Harris, who is also the team's primary kick returner, was also placed on IR with a fractured fifth metatarsal that will be surgically repaired on Tuesday. Brandon Marshall was also carted off the field with an ankle injury in the second quarter, not long after Sterling Shephard limped off the with an ankle injury as well. Beckham has 25 receptions for 302 yards and three touchdowns on the season. NY quickly starting adding more bodies on Monday - the team promoted Travis Rudolph from their practice squad and they are expected to bring back Tavarres King.
"Next man up", McAdoo said.More news: Colin Kaepernick Says He'll Stand During National Anthem on One Condition
McAdoo was also asked if bringing in Victor Cruz, who was cut by the Bears before the season, was an option.
The addition of new wide receivers and bumping guys up from the practice squad could give the Giants a sense of what other talent they may have on their hands as they try to make sense of an 0-5 season. Neither player returned in the second half.
