Gators football team goes full reptile with green scaly uniforms

This will be the first time in school history that the Gators stray from their signature orange and blue look.

Helmets will have a Gators head logo on one side only. Might be time to re-visit the drawing board for them. The jersey has an alligator skin pattern.

According to Florida themselves, the official color that they're going with is "Swamp Green".

And, of course, what custom uniform is complete without special shoes?

The uniforms are supposed to "take after an alligator's armored body" and channel the animal's "ability to be a master of camouflage".

Matching sideline apparel from Nike is also available. The Gators are -3 home chalk with a total of 52.5 vs. Texas A&M.

During that matchup five years ago, Florida downed A&M, 20-17.

The school tweeted out several photos of the uniform combo on Wednesday that got more attention for the live alligator in the photos, posing just feet from the uniform model on the field of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

The Gators will have a new, yet somewhat familiar look this weekend in the Swamp. "We feel comfortable there, but we hope our opponents feel tentative". Jim McElwain is 13-2 at home after going unbeaten in unbeaten in "The Swamp" past year.
