'He does everything right' - another TD trio for Kerryon Johnson, Mr. Touchdown

Coaches and players stopped short of claiming a moral victory in a 44-23 loss to No. 12 Auburn Saturday, but they were encouraged by the improvement.

Auburn coach Gus Malzahn held Pettway out of the contest but fully unleashed Johnson to the tune of a 28-carry day. I don't know of a whole lot of players that week one will be running for a touchdown and pull a hamstring bad enough where they've got to go down. Patterson completed 10 of 15 passes in the first quarter for 110 yards.

That Auburn did. Ole Miss marched down the field on its first drive, covering 49 yards on nine plays to reach the opponents' 26-yard line.

With that, Mr. Touchdown departed the interview room to celebrate Auburn's third consecutive SEC blowout of 20 points or more, something the Tigers last accomplished 30 years ago. Auburn's dominating win over Ole Miss represented his 10th career game with at least three field goals. "The challenge is we got to continue to do that because very few teams around the country can do that".

Stidham was 14-of-21 for 235 yards and two scores, and is 72-of-91 (79.1 percent) over the past four weeks.

(14:53) Jarrett Stidham throws to Darius Slayton for a 19-yard touchdown.

The Tiger defense was suffocating in the first half. Ole Miss moved the ball and got some stops in the second half, but there was not a competitive snap in the second half for the Rebels for the second week in a row. It was the first Ole Miss touchdown since the second quarter against the Cal Bears.

"We really made a statement that we wanted to finish the game, whether we win or lose, with a good vibe coming out of the game", Patterson said.

"The fact that Chip is calling the plays and we are different in a lot of ways, it's not like you would think", Malzahn said. Auburn had been the only FBS team that hadn't allowed more than 14 points in a game this season.

The Rebels return home for the first time in over a month to take on Vanderbilt in next Saturday's homecoming game.

AUBURN BACKFIELD: Auburn's Johnson has run for eight touchdowns in the past two games, five against Missouri and three against Mississippi State.

The Ole Miss Athletics Department will be charged in large part with developing and designing the mascot.
