IPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus Pre-Bookings Commence in India


In a bid to get iPhone users to stay on with Amazon, the e-commerce major is working with Reliance Jio to offer 70% value of their existing iPhones when they upgrade to a new model next year.

According to media sources, Flipkart said in a statement that "It sold 1.3 million smartphones within the first 20 hours of the category opening for sale".

Ayyappan Rajagopal, Senior Director, Mobiles at Flipkart said, "These numbers reinforce our position as the absolute leader in smartphones".

Buyers who pre-order Apple iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus models on Amazon or Flipkart websites can avail a cashback of Rs 10,000 on purchases made via on Citi Bank credit cards. An extra Rs 3,000 discount will be given on regular exchange on Apple iPhone (this offer is available between pre-orders placed before September 26 and in select cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune and Ahmedabad.).

Offers on Other Mobiles: Customers can find up to Rs. 6,300 off on Samsung mobiles and up to 40% off on LG mobiles and these deal also include exchange offers and No Cost EMIs.

iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus is available for pre-booking on several platforms.

The best deal on the iPhone 7 32GB is on Amazon and is priced at Rs 38,999. The cash burn for the e-tailing industry, which has deep-pocketed investors like SoftBank and Alibaba backing players, is forecast to reach up to United States dollars 370-400 million this year on a expected gross merchandise value (GMV) of USD 1.5- 1.7 billion.

Jio will also offer an exclusive tariff plan for the two Apple smartphones. It provides 90GB of data per month for postpaid users dubbed as MRP 799 plan. Infibeam website too is taking pre-order for iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. However, there's an EMI option starting at Rs 3,361.

On the day of delivery, the person will get an SMS and email with the details of the store from where he or she can collect the device on payment of the remainder of the money. The 4GB RAM + 64GB storage option gets Rs 2,000 off and it is selling at Rs 10,999. Both the smartphones are powered by company's own 10nm A11 Bionic chipset with a 6-core processor and comes with IP67 rating which makes the device dust and water resistant.

The regular iPhone and the Plus version are largely similar, except for the display, the overall size and the camera.
