Jackie Hoffman jokingly pokes fun at Laura Dern after Emmy loss

Last night, actress Jackie Hoffman, now playing Mrs. Teavee in the Broadway production of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, was up for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series for her role as Mamacita, in FX's FEUD.

When presenters Issa Rae and Riz Ahmed announced Big Little Lies' Dern as the victor, the cameras zoomed in on each of the other nominees, and that's when Hoffman let it rip, yelling, "Damn it, damn it!" in faux outrage. Jackie Hoffman, who starred in FX's FEUD: Bette and Joan, was up for the Emmy for supporting actress in a drama.

Best of luck next year, Jackie! Dern went on to win the evening's award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for HBO's Big Little Lies.

It appears not. She also changed her official Twitter bio to "http://I'm kidding". "Forgive me for being from real people #elitism #Emmys2017".

Her response quickly took social media by storm, with many assuming Hoffman's reaction was genuine. "I feel very proud to be a part of reflecting fierce women and mothers finding their voice".

It's true that 50-year-old actress Laura Dern did have famous parents - actress Diane Ladd and actor Bruce Dern. Dern had always been the favorite in that category, especially after a big night of wins for Big Little Lies already, so it's likely Hoffman had expected to lose going in. We only wish she had kept the joke going longer.

She then turned to Twitter to share some salacious rumors she had heard about six-time nominee Dern, including tales of exploitation and art looting.
