Colts Game Recap: Week 2 vs. Cardinals

Most of the talk by Colts offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski all week has been getting Brissett more familiar with the playbook.

The Cardinals then outscored them 13-3 over the next three quarters, but Phil Dawson missed a field goal as time expired to give the Colts a second chance in overtime.

That's great to hear, but with the question marks behind center our models are still tempering expectations here.

Palmer completed a 22-yard pass, and that play had 15 yards added on to it when Colts linebacker Jabaal Sheard was called for roughing the passer. And while still costing $7,200, his 10.3 projected FanDuel points rank 27th among all receivers.

Not long after that, Arians was rewarded with the first of two NFL Coach of the Year awards.

Arians insists his offense won't change "one iota", but according to Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer, "It changes drastically".

Quarterback Jacoby Brissett, making his first start after he was acquired from New England two weeks ago, added to the fourth quarter and overtime list of mistakes when his first pass of the extra period was intercepted by Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu. In Week 2, however, that's exactly the case as it pertains to the Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts. Scott Tolzien had a nightmare of a game in Week 1. Tolzien was with the Colts last season and even started a game while Luck was out with a concussion. The former teammates in New England also have something else in common: They are the league's only active players still around from the 1990s. He has experience in similar scenarios, however, having started two games last season as a rookie for the Patriots in an emergency role after an injury to their backup quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, who was replacing the suspended Tom Brady. The Cardinals allowed 26 straight points to fall behind 35-17. As you get to know him a little more, he's a smart, smart football player and picks things up well. He also had some strong performances in the preseason, so he may be able to find moderate success with the Colts.

After the Cardinals got the opening kickoff, they went three and out.

For the Cardinals to avoid their first 0-2 start in the Arians' era, they will need Palmer, who turns 38 in December, to revert back to his MVP-worthy ways of 2015 when he set multiple career and franchise passing records. Indianapolisis 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games while the over is 6-2 in their last 8 week 2 matchups.
