Kids Found Dead In West Sacramento Apartment; Man Arrested

A man is behind bars facing murder charges and three children are dead after a report of domestic violence in a West Sacramento apartment.

Police say neighbors called 911 to report a domestic violence incident involving Hodges and his wife, and that as officers were on their way a second call came in reporting the killings. However, a short time later the three children were pronounced dead.

The children's names, ages and genders have not been released.

An adult female was also in the home. She is viewed as a casualty of aggressive behavior at home, police said.

Police activity will be ongoing in the area through the night and into the morning hours.

'Obviously, she's traumatized, and it's going to take some time to find out what's going on, ' Kinney said.

Roger Kinney says investigators have not determined if Hodges was the children's father.

California Highway Patrol officers arrested Robert Hodges, 33, on Interstate 80 in neighbouring Sacramento at around midnight Thursday, said West Sacramento police Sgt. Roger Kinney.

The incident happened shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Timbers Apartments in West Sacramento, near Jefferson Boulevard. "The officers are absolutely impacted, along with the firefighters, and certainly the family, the neighbors - this call is going to have quite a bit of emotion".

That said, it is understood two of the murdered children attended nearby Southport Elementary School. I was in my apartment all the time. "It just happened. It's so sad", Daniel said. A lady was additionally found at the scene and is in contact with police.
