Google will need to step up its game to compete with Apple, which on Wednesday debuted the iPhone X and Apple Watch 3 with cellular capabilities that allow the user to leave the phone at home. According to a billboard set by Google in Boston, the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 may launch on October 4. Of course, there's always a chance that this isn't about the Pixel 2 - however slim it may be - but this is about as close to a sure thing as possible.
Spotted by droid-life, the billboard doesn't really reveal much except the "G" logo, October 4 date, and the tag line - "Ask more of your phone". The billboard doesn't carry anything else. Basically an upgraded version of Google's first Pixel smartphone. The device is expected to go on sale around mid-October.
As for the video teasing the October 4 announcement, it's a series of questions that hint at some of the problems the Pixel 2 will likely solve: battery life, storage, blurry photos, AI, automatic updates, slowness (performance), heat, durability, etc. Blass later tweeted that the Snapdragon 836 would now launch early next year under a different branding. The company did the same thing past year with a large silhouette of the Pixel device that was spotted in New York City. Now, it's Google's turn to show off their next flagship smartphone - the Google #Pixel 2 and XL 2.More news: 'Hand in Hand' benefit raises $44 million (and counting) for hurricane relief
The new Pixel models will also be IP68 dust and water resistant, it has been claimed. So, what happened to G011B? Coming to the specifications, the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 are expected to equipped with 4.95 and 5.99 inches QHD LG screen.
The mobile enthusiasts are now just waiting for the final invites to the event.
