HBO can't catch a break as Game of Thrones leaks online again


So far we come to know that Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 6 has been leaked and the same has been confirmed from the sources. Hackers didn't leak Game of Thrones episodes, but they leaked a bunch of unaired episodes from other HBO productions, internal emails, scripts, internal network passwords, and others [leak 1, leak 2, leak 3]. People who managed to catch the new GoT episode went ahead and leaked clips and essential details from the show. The premium cabler is now grappling with yet another leaked episode of Game of Thrones.

A third-party vendor uploaded the episode by mistake, and it was taken down after an hour, BuzzFeed reported. HBO, the company behind the hit series, has taken action against those leaking, posting and streaming the episodes. The episode is due to be aired on Monday (August 21) in India.

HBO, which like CNN is owned by Time Warner, said in late July it was investigating a hack targeting its shows.

However, with the modern technology nowadays, the aired new episode was immediately duplicated in full, high-quality version and it spread like wildfire throughout the internet. The publication reports that the error apparently was made by HBO Spain, with the episode being made available to Spanish subscribers four days early. That time around, the leak was also the result of a screwup from a distribution partner - that time, Star India was responsible.

The leaked episode appeared for download early this morning according to The Verge.

Indian police have detained the four suspects, but said their motive for leaking the episode titled, "The Spoils of War", was unclear.
