More than 100 people have been affected by swine flu, while around 370 people are suffering from dengue.
Cuttack: The death toll due to dengue rose to 2 after another patient, Harihar Mallick (27) of Basudevpur in Bhadrak district died this morning while undergoing treatment at the Central ICU in the SCB Medical in Cuttack. Around 47 people have so far tested positive for the disease. But more swine flu suspected patients are found in city. Numerous patients have come from places like Mumbai, Surat and Bengaluru.
In city, 13 samples of swine flu suspected patients were sent to Virology Lab, Jabalpur. Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Thursday said 753 cases of swine flu (influenza H1N1) were reported between January 1 and August 6, adding that enough stocks of medicine were available to tackle the disease.
The measures initiated to deal with swine flu have failed to be effective as 16 of the 28 samples tested positive for the flu Sunday, which took the total number of H1N1 cases in state to 119 this year. 9 samples of dengue and 3 of chikungunya suspected patients were received for testing, he said.
