Salma Hayek wishes luck to Akshay for 'Toilet Ek Prem Katha'

While most of the films starring superstars that released recently were criticised and failed at the box-office whether it be SRK's "Jab Harry Met Sejal" or Salman Khan's "Tubelight".

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was made on a shoestring budget of Rs 18 crore. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the movie performed well post afternoon.

Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has witnessed a decent opening at the Box Office on opening day. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has collected Rs 11.50 crore (115 Million) net approx day one. It shows how Keshav ( Akshay Kumar) wins back his love by taking a stand against India's old age tradition and value.

The movie has received positive reviews from audience as well as Bollywood critics and the good word-of-mouth publicity is likely to help its business over the first weekend.

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is directed by Shree Narayan Singh and also features Anupam Kher. Akshay's previous films too have opened with similar numbers in the past whether it is Jolly LLB 2 (Rs. 13.20 crore) or Rustom (Rs.14.11crore) and Housefull 3 (Rs.15.21 crore).

The movie "Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is in support of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to improve the sanitation conditions of the rural areas". The film even has a big advantage of a public holiday on Independence Day, (15th August) and a partial holiday of Pasi New Year on 17th August.

The Shree Narayan Singh directorial is inspired by true events when 19-year-old Priyanka Bharti took a stand and chose to walk out of her in-laws' house as they didn't have a toilet.
