Buffalo Bills invest in future by trading Ronald Darby, Sammy Watkins

Even more recently, the club acquired wide receiver Jordan Matthews from the Philadelphia Eagles and cornerback E.J.

After some wheeling and dealing, the Browns ended up with three first-round picks in the 2017 draft (including the top overall selection), but they also loaded up on future assets. Buffalo dealt corner Ronald Darby to Philadelphia for Jordan Matthews and a 3rd round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Watkins is a big upgrade for the Rams, as starting wide receivers Tavon Austin and Robert Woods posted 509 yards and 613 yards, respectively, last season. He played in just half of the games of the season, racking up just 28 receptions for 430 yards and two touchdowns scored. They used three picks in the first four rounds of the National Football League draft to add pass catchers and signed Watkins' former-now-current-again teammate, Robert Woods.

Advantage Watkins. The dynamic athletic ability that made him the fourth overall pick has shown - when he's been healthy - on the field in Buffalo, leading to one of the highest yard-per-reception averages over the last three years in the NFL.

But the Bills are investing in their future.

The trades set the Bills up to replace quarterback Tyrod Taylor, to whom McDermott and ownership in Buffalo are noncommittal, with this draft deck in April 2018: two first-round picks, two second-round picks, two third-round picks.

Somebody mentioned that somebody said that out there, and honestly, that's annoying to me. "And I think we'll have that this year". But simply assuming Goff will stay stagnant at his rookie-year levels seems pessimistic based on all of the changes that were made, and it should help maintain the sanity of those of you who have already added Watkins onto your fantasy rosters.

"Sammy has proven he can be a productive player and an explosive receiver in this league, we look forward to having him in a Rams uniform", Rams general manager Les Snead said in a news release. We know Elliott is elite and will come back as an asset for your team. The team is apparently interested in signing Watkins to a long-term extension. But Webster's familiarity with Rams defensive coordinator Wade Phillips' system - playing on Phillips' Denver Broncos defenses the past two years - gave him an advantage and ultimately won him the job. A recent report suggested some team employees believe Matthews could have practiced more but allowed his contract status to influence his decision-making, a charge that the Matthews strongly denied.

Safety will also look completely different in 2017.
