'Mass casualty situation' reported at New Hampshire hospital


The hospital said it is working with police and fire officials to determine the source and it's in the process of transferring patients.

A New Hampshire hospital has been evacuated due to a possible chemical leak.

Ambulances responded to the hospital to evaluate more than 20 people on Friday, some of whom complained of dizziness.

The incident began with five staff members in the operating room and several other patients also began to feel sick a short time later.

Exeter Hospital in Exeter, NH, evacuated its emergency department and operating rooms, which were closed and sealed according to the Union Leader.

It's unclear if all patients had to leave the hospital as well.

Multiple ambulances were lined up outside the emergency room, local media reported.

The odor was detected around 11:15 a.m.
