Spotify Goes Live For Xbox One Later Today

While it may have taken years to get to this point, Spotify is finally catering to both audiences - a decision that might've been made possible by the addition of the background music feature Microsoft added in August of last year.

Browse playlists from different genres and moods.

Signs of the app's imminent arrival were spotted earlier in the week, with Microsoft's own Major Nelson seen testing the music service. If you're playing a game where the soundtrack doesn't play as often as you'd like, or a game where you don't mind listening to music in the background, Spotify now has you covered Xbox One users. "The new integration means that millions of Xbox One gamers can now choose the ideal music from Spotify to provide a fresh gaming soundtrack every time".

You can use Spotify Connect to control the music from your mobile device. You can find the play bar at the bottom of the Xbox menu to skip songs, play/pause, or adjust the volume. Your phone and the Xbox need to be on the same Wifi to make this work.

On your phone/tablet, open and log in to the Spotify app. Users in some regions are reporting that they are unable to download it just yet but it's only a matter of time before the app goes live in their regions as well.

Follow the steps on the screen. Also, Ericsson notes that you can also control playback on your Xbox wirelessly from the Spotify app on your phone, tablet or desktop using Spotify Connect.
