'Jab Harry Met Sejal' surpasses Rs 50 crore mark

The film has a good start at the box office and crossed Rs 50 crores mark in 4 days at domestic box office. You don't normally see such fill rate for a Shah Rukh Khan film but then, box office and audience is not coming to theaters for films which are disappointing.

In yet another unusual request for rescue, a man asked External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to rescue him from a theatre where he was watching Jab Harry Met Sejal movie.

After Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma carried out heavy promotions for Jab Harry Met Sejal, testing their marketing abilities with new and rather unexplored strategies of the film's promotion, they were successful in generating a decent buzz before the release of the film.

The movie reportedly minted only Rs 7.15 crore on Raksha Bandhan day. While the figures are great, the film's collections dipped slightly after enjoying a thunderous weekend. However, the earning of the weekend were slashed to half as they earned Rs 7.15 crore on its fourth day of release, as tweeted by trade expert Taran Adarsh. Anyway, while his latest film is struggling at the box office and is on course to be his biggest flop yet, it is interesting to see that around the same time in 2013, Shah Rukh Khan was wreaking havoc at the box office.

Similarly, on the very same day, twenty years ago, i.e August 8, 1997, one of SRK's most loved films of the '90s and a sure shot box office blockbuster, Pardes, had released. Its theatrical rights were sold for a whopping Rs 125 crore and the film is now heading to incur huge losses to its distributors.
