Cameroon worldwide Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting joins Stoke


Stoke City are close to signing Eric Choupo-Moting of Schalke, according to Sky Sports.

However, the 42-time capped Cameroonian worldwide is available on a free transfer following the expiration of his deal with Schalke.

Choupo-Moting has spent his entire career in Germany, with Schalke, Mainz, Nurnburg and Hamburg. I think it's the most viewed championship in the world and every footballer would one day like to play in the Premier League.

'There were many things to consider of course, the biggest being my family, ' the Cameroon global added.

The Cameroon worldwide was available after leaving Bundesliga side Schalke at the end of his contract, having scored 18 league goals in his three seasons at the club.

"We actually tried to bring him here a couple of windows ago, but for whatever reason we weren't able to get the deal done, but thankfully we have been able to do so this time, and I am delighted".

'We are understandably thrilled to have secured his signature and Eric is excited about the prospect of playing in the Premier League'.

He will train with his new Stoke team-mates for the first time on Tuesday as the squad prepare for their Premier League curtain-raiser against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
