Recently, Minister of State for Finance Santosh Kumar Gangwar in a written reply informed the Rajya Sabha that as on July 27, 11,44,211 PANs have been identified and deleted or de-activated in cases where multiple PANs were found allotted to one person. As per the government norms it is not legal to have multiple PAN accounts for an Individual and also the fake accounts are deactivated.
The drive also detected numerous PAN cards that were issued to people who either did not exist or had acquired one after providing false details to the authorities, reported NDTV. According to government rule, it is illegal for a person to have more than one PAN number registered under his/ her name and it is also advisable to link your Aadhaar number with PAN before the deadline i, e.
If you do not link or fail to link your Aadhaar card with your PAN card, then your PAN card might be rendered invalid by December 2017.

2- Select "Know Your PAN" option provided on the home page of the website in the left hand column under the heading "services".
# Enter the OTP or one-time password received on the registered mobile number and click on Validate.
Fill in your personal information like name, status, gender, date of birth and mobile number. After completion, click on "submit" button. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.
If you have multiple PAN numbers under the same details, a pop-up will appear saying that, ' There are multiple records for this query. "Please provide additional information" asking in more details. This opens to a page where you need to fill in you details. What this means is, it is better to check for yourself if your PAN is still active and not one among those which was cancelled.
