Spider-Man: Homecoming Movie Review

The video, lasting for a total of almost three minutes, shows some background on the development of Spider-Man, accompanied by the words of lead writer Jon Paquette and the creative director Bryan Intihar.

To recall, Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst took their on-screen romance to real life after starring in the 2002 film "Spider-Man". Is "Homecoming" really worse than those two Spidey flicks? Despite all the discussions over Aunt May being significantly younger than she's been in previous versions, she's sadly underused here.

Without a doubt one of the best Spider-Man films, we have more to look forward to now that Spidey is part of The Avengers.

An experienced Spider-Man with several years of crime fighting under his belt, Peter Parker has sheer mastery of his powerful spider-sense, dynamic skills, acrobatic abilities and new suit.

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" is rated PG-13 for action, violence, a couple of mildly suggestive references, and a TON of Easter eggs. When it boils down to it, Homecoming is about a college kid who has to stop a petty thief. Honestly, it would be hard for viewers to watch him portray the character without thinking of him as Peter Parker. It sets things up for what will hopefully be a great new series of films, but when it comes to Spider-Man the sequels tend to ruin things in the end, so fans will have their fingers crossed for Tom Holland to become the contradiction to the rule. Driven by the most basic of all human urges; to care for his kin, Keaton's Vulture isn't a man who's evil incarnate - he has a code of ethics, but a short fuse for anyone who interferes with his business, or his family. Imagine if John Hughes had made a Spider-Man movie, using a script punched up by "SNL" writers - the good ones, that is. While the failure of Edgar Wright's vision for Ant-Man proved that the fledgling studio has little tolerance for auteurs who want to operate outside their prescribed parameters, he's been able to successfully replicate that which James Gunn managed to do with Guardians of the Galaxy - namely, to operate between the lines, while still deliver a unique picture that satisfies the franchises core fans and casuals alike.
