In addition to the reveal trailer of Trunks, it was also announced that there will be a Dragon Ball FighterZ beta for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and registration to participate will start on July 26.

Donning his familiar blue Capsule Corp. jacket, Trunks is shown fighting other characters such as Frieza, Vegeta, and Cell in the trailer for the 2D fighting game developed by Arc System Works.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in early 2018.

The new characters will be showcased in Japanese publication V Jump, which specialises in manga and manga-related video games. It will include nine characters and registrations will open to the public on July 26th. Hopefully more Dragon Ball Super characters are included! Bandai Namco has announced that it will begin sign-ups for a closed beta very soon, and that beta will actually take place this month.

Elsewhere in the interview, Hiroki explained why there's a "Z" in the game's title.

"The fact that somebody would kind of make an assertion that somehow we're not keeping Minecraft players safe, I found - not only from a Microsoft perspective, but from a game industry perspective - like, I don't know why that has to become the dialogue". As far as the pronunciation, it is pronounced Dragon Ball FighterZ, so just pronounce it like you would with an S. There are plans for various changes to stages as matches go on but no plans to implement cross-play between platforms.
