Russian Lawyer Who Met Trump Jr. Got Special 'Parole,' Then Visa

Mr Trump Jr said it became apparent as they spoke that Ms Veselnitskaya wanted to discuss a suspended programme for Americans to adopt Russian children.

The emails prove that Junior (not a naive youth but a 39-year-old businessman who has frequently done work in Russia) met the Russian lobbyist in the Trump Tower, together with Ivanka Trump's husband, Jared Kushner, and Paul Manafort, then the elder Trump's campaign manager. His comments have added a new outline of the Trump teams growing explanations about the June 2016 controversial meeting, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Both the House and Senate Intelligence committees are investigating Russia's attempt to manipulate the outcome of the 2016 US presidential election as well as allegations of collusion between members of the Trump campaign and high-ranking Russian officials.

News broke Friday that Rinat Akhmetshin, who received USA citizenship and became a Washington lobbyist after emigrating from Russian Federation more than a decade ago, was also present at the Trump Tower meeting with campaign officials and Kremlin-linked lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.

While Trump Jr. has confirmed that Russian attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya was in the meeting, he has not disclosed Akhmetshin's presence. No additional names have been provided.

"I never worked for the Russian government".

Futerfas said he had talked with the individual who came to the meeting with Veselnitskaya: "He is a US citizen".

Grassley said no questions would be off limits as the panel investigates what the USA intelligence community has concluded was Moscow's election interference, personally directed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, into the 2016 US election.

While the staggered revelation of the meeting's total number of attendees is a bit confusing - and possibly not over! - there's no denying Trump Jr.'s meeting drew a very bigly turnout, one that would've made dad proud.

The investigation is being carried out by special counsel Robert Mueller to find out whether any Trump campaign associates colluded with Russian Federation to interfere in the election.

A former Soviet counter-intelligence official attended a meeting previous year with senior aides to President Donald Trump and his son, it has emerged.

"This could be a good issue to expose how the DNC is accepting bad money", Veselnitskaya reportedly told the Trump associates at the time, as recalled by Ahkmetshin. The next day, the Times wrote that publicist Rob Goldstone, who brokered the meeting, was also there.

"What really matters to the Democrats is that I know Donald Trump", he said. The president has said his son did nothing wrong. They say it's best to leave it to outside counsel to handle the furor around Trump Jr., and fear inviting further legal jeopardy if Trump aides and allies more forcefully defend a meeting that they don't fully know the details of, according to the sources. It's the first known case of potential collusion with Russians to influence the election, and it had a paper trail: e-mails between Trump Jr. and an intermediary setting up the meeting.
