Trump meets Macron in Paris before Bastille Day

The brief trip coincides with Bastille Day, a public holiday to celebrate French culture, and an opportunity for the two first ladies to show off their contrasting, yet equally as impressive sense of style.

Trump then took a step back and appraised Brigitte, looking her up and down.

President Trump has watched American and French soldiers march together through Paris in a celebration marking Bastille Day and 100 years since the USA entered World War One. Without letting go of Macron, Trump also grabbed Brigitte Macron's hand, shaking hands with both the Macrons for several seconds.

The US president then visited the tomb of Napoleon before Friday's Bastille Day celebrations. However, Macron added that he will try to persuade Trump on this matter during their meeting.

He has been the President of the United States for 174 days now, and yet outrageous Donald Trump quotes are still coming thick and fast - and he's still managing to shock the world with his words.
