Russian lobbyist also attended meeting with Donald Trump Jr

The Associated Press said the lobbyist, whom it identified as Rinat Akhmetshin, confirmed that he had attended the June 2016 meeting in New York's Trump Tower.

Mr Browder added that Mr Akhmetshin was effectively Ms Veselnitskaya's "guide through the political corridors of power in Washington". This is an email chain released by Donald Trump Jr. himself.

She said Moscow's course of action would depend on the outcome of a meeting in Washington on July 17 between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and U.S. Undersecretary of State Thomas Shannon.

Kushner was in charge of the Trump campaign's digital operations. "Not only Donald Trump (Jr.), but Ivanka and Jared Kushner".

Political commentator and columnist Charles Krauthammer said Friday that the White House's defense of the Russian Federation narrative as Democratic nonsense is "officially dead".

Akhmetshin said he does not know if Veselnitskaya's documents were provided by the Russian government.

Pelosi said that Republican Speaker Ryan has avoided any response to uphold the Constitution, and that he has ignored her calls for an independent investigation.

Maxine Waters, ranking Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee, told reporters she had filed a resolution of inquiry demanding the U.S. Treasury Secretary hand over documents in his possession, "relating to President Trump's financial connections to Russian Federation, certain illegal financial schemes, and related information". But what he didn't say was that another Russian was at that meeting last summer who reportedly has ties to Russian intelligence agencies.

"One of these people who were at the meeting, not sure which one ... is connected to Fusion GPS, who also was connected-Fusion GPS-to the payment, the Russian dossier", Bolling said Friday.

While Trump Jr. has confirmed that Russian attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya was in the meeting, he did not disclose alleged Akhmetshin's presence.

Akhmetshin, who spoke to the AP while on vacation in France where he said he has been surfing, said the meeting was "not substantive" and he "actually expected more serious" discussion.

The Russian government has denied any involvement or knowledge of the meeting.

News, which did not identify the Russian-American lobbyist, on Friday said some USA officials suspected him of still having ties to Russian intelligence, something he denied to the network.

"That is not correct", Akhmetshin said. He denies ever serving in such a capacity.

The chairman, Republican Chuck Grassley of Iowa, said in a March letter that Akhmetshin has "reportedly admitted to being a "Soviet counterintelligence officer" and has a long history of lobbying the USA government for pro-Russia matters". He has previously registered with Congress for the lobbying work, and he plans to raise this issue before Grassley's committee.

"I'm going out on a limb here - but I would say I think it would be in the president's best interest if he removed all of his children from the White House", Texas Representative Bill Flores told local television Thursday.
