"We will always consider Darren a Duck and support him in any way we can", Taggart said in the statement. Coach Willie Taggart made the announcement on Friday.

"Someone is going to try me", Taggart said in December.

Some of Carrington's best performances came in big moments, including 126 receiving yards in the 2014 Pac-12 championship game and 165 and two touchdowns against Florida State in the Rose Bowl.

Darren Carrington was featured on the Taylor's Instagram account Friday morning in a post that has since been deleted.

Carrington has been a key contributor for OR with 112 catches for 1,919 yards and 15 touchdowns in 29 games over three seasons.

OR is scheduled to open the 2017 season on September 2 against Southern Utah.

According to Eugene police, Carrington was arrested after colliding with a pole in the drive-through lane at a McDonald's near campus. He had also previously been cited for violating an open container policy in the fall of 2015, a season in which he sat out the first five games of the campaign following a failed drug test. After receiving a call of a possibly intoxicated driver, a Eugene police officer observed a Honda Accord make an improper right turn from the McDonald's parking lot and stopped the vehicle at Mill Street and Eighth Avenue, McLaughlin said. Carrington graduated in June with a degree in sociology.
