Beyonce Snags the No.1 Spot on Billboard's Highest Paid Musicians List

Look at the financial breakdowns of the top earners on our Top Money Makers of 2016 list, and you'll notice a mostly consistent theme: Everybody's making their money through touring.

And Taylor Swift, who topped the list in 2015 after her wildly successful "1989" tour - but did not tour in 2016 - did not make the cut this time.

Meanwhile, while touring fueled the top 3 earners, Drake flexed his re-spins, taking the fourth spot at $37.3 million, including a gargantuan $18.1 million from streaming alone. Just to give you an idea of how thoroughly she killed the competition, she pulled in a little over $20 million more than the No. 2 act, Guns N Roses.

Guns N Roses brought in most of their $42.3 million from their long-awaited reunion tour which they have extended into 2017.

Bruce Springsteen secured the third spot with $42.2 million, while the rest of the top ten featured big names including Drake, Adele, Coldplay, Justin Bieber, and Kanye West.

The highest artists of 2016 have been revealed - and Beyonce is leading the charge after grossing $61.2 million (£47.2m) in just one year. But what really pops about Drake's totals is his streaming tally, driven by the omnipresence of his Views LP: The first artist in Spotify's 10 billion stream club trounced the competition previous year with a combined 6.8 billion on-demand audio and video streams in 2016. He made most of that money from his massive The River Tour 2016 with his E Street Band, from which earned more than $40 million. Bryan clocked $27.3 million dollars in take-home earnings while Chesney took $25.4 million. Check out Billboard's full list here.
