Liverpool Reportedly Have £57M Naby Keita Bid Rejected by RB Leipzig

Liverpool have had a £57million bid for Red Bull Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita rejected.

Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke have already arrived on Merseyside this summer, but Liverpool will need to do a lot more in order to establish themselves as genuine contenders for the major trophies this coming season.

Keita is Klopp's main target but Leipzig are determined to keep hold of the Guinea worldwide, with the club's sporting director Ralf Rangnick recently insisting that none of his players are for sale.

Keita has been widely touted as Klopp's prime target but Liverpool have so far been frustrated in their pursuit with Goal claiming they had an opening £57m bid knocked back by Leipzig.

However, Klopp is willing to break the bank to sign the player and could lodge another improved offer.

It's going to be an interesting few weeks but there is no doubt Keita would be a superb signing if Liverpool manage to get a deal agreed for the midfielder this summer.

It's added that Keita is keen on a move to Anfield and so perhaps this whole situation will depend on his ability to force the move through, with Leipzig surely not wanting to keep a player against his will.

Sporting director Ralf Rangnick has been just as eager to reiterate Leipzig's hardline stance with regards to outgoing transfers, maintaining that the Bundesliga runners-up would not consider selling even for a "three-figure transfer fee".

Meanwhile, the club's top centre back target has been Southampton's Virgil van Dijk, and whilst a deal looked close last month, the Saints accused Liverpool of tapping him up, kiboshing the move.

Keita made 31 Bundesliga appearances for Leipzig last season, scoring eights goals and now contracted to the club until 2020.
