Lazio 'bid accepted for Liverpool's Lucas Leiva'

Jordan Henderson is set to become Liverpool's longest-serving player, with the club accepting a £5million bid for Lucas Leiva.

Lucas is due to face Wigan tonight in his club's second friendly of pre-season, but his participation in that match is now in doubt as negotiations continue this afternoon.

Lucas Biglia, a former Anderlecht star, is expected to complete his €17 million move to AC Milan in the coming hours.

Lucas has enjoyed an extensive career at Anfield, winning the club's Player of the Year award in 2011 during his ten-year affiliation with the Reds.

"This club made me better as a person, as a player, I have two kids born in Liverpool".

The midfielder and makeshift centre back has made a total of 346 appearances for Liverpool over the past 10 years, scoring 10 times. He has been deployed to good effect in central defence by Klopp but, with the prospect of a regular starting role limited, the Liverpool manager will not stand in the way of an exit should Lucas opt to leave.

The versatile midfielder is in the final 12 months of his Liverpool current and has faced an uncertain future after Jurgen Klopp admitted in May that he had "no idea" whether Lucas had played his last game for Liverpool.
