"To say we are excited for the Star Wars-themed lands to open in 2019 is an understatement", Chapek said.

At the event, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek referred to the lands (there's one in Disney World, and one in Disneyland, Anaheim) as "immersive new worlds".

Coming soon to a galaxy not-so-far, far away, Disney have just unveiled the best look yet at Star Wars Land (name TBC).

".one that lets guests take the controls of Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission, and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance".

Last night as Disney's D23 kicked off in California, a huge model of the upcoming Star Wars Land was shown to those lucky enough to attend.

The project is already underway at the Anaheim Park and in Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida but it will not be ready and open to the public until 2019. And now, ahead of this weekend's D23 Expo, we know exactly what the land will look like thanks to this mind-boggling scale model.

The Disney Parks blog describes the setting for the new lands as "a remote trading port", and fittingly, Han Solo's spaceship, the Millennium Falcon, is docked at the back of the model. Taking place on an entirely new planet, the dedicated areas-representing the parks' largest single-themed land expansions-will feature multiple story-driven experiences. The model will be on display at the Disney Parks pavilion for D23, which is set for Friday and Saturday.

D23 covers numerous various business elements of Walt Disney Co., including films and television production.
