'She's Gotta Have It': Spike Lee Series Gets Netflix Release Date, Teaser

This Thanksgiving, She's Gotta Have It will head to Netflix as a contemporary Brooklyn-set series with millennials at the center.

Spike Lee's classic 1986 film, "She's Gotta Have It" has been adapted into a television series on Netflix, with a release date of all 10 episodes on November 23.

Netflix has released a teaser for the series highlighting the characters Nola Darling, Jamie Overstreet, Greer Childs and of course Mars Blackmon.

The next Spike Lee joint will be a reimagining of the very first. The original film that inspired the series was filmed on a small budget over the course of just 12 days, but solidified Lee as a preeminent filmmaker. The cast also features Chyna Layne (Precious), Ilfenesh Hadera (Baywatch), Margot Bingham (Barbershop: The Next Cut), Sydney Morton (Love, New York) and Joie Lee (Do The Right Thing).

Lee directed all of the episodes, as well as producing them along with his wife Tonya Lewis.

This will mark the first time Spike Lee's directing chops will separate from his staple documentaries and movie theater classics. I'll admit that I've never seen it, but I don't doubt the film's impact - it launched the monumental career of Lee, of course.
