Entomologist for the City of Saskatoon Jeff Boone, said the mosquito that causes West Nile usually peaks around the August long weekend.
The summer task is created to control mosquito larvae and reduce the incidence of West Nile Virus in Lambton County.
Beaufort County Mosquito Control Director Gregg Hunt said insecticide has been applied where the mosquitoes are most active.

Greenwich and the state's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, Agricultural Experiment Station, Department of Public Health and the Department of Agriculture are joining to implement an integrated mosquito management program that will include monitoring and surveillance, prevention measures and community education. In Connecticut, in 2016, mosquitoes, domestic animals and humans were included in surveillance systems.
The number of Culex mosquitoes - which carry and transmit West Nile - is doubling each week in some areas and quadrupling despite county control efforts.
According to the town's Department of Health, most people who are bitten by infected mosquitoes show few or minor symptoms, including a headache or fever.
After conducting an aerial application in 2013, seven people in Ada County were reported to have been infected with West Nile that year. People 60 years of age or older are most at risk, along with those who already have medical conditions. General symptoms occur suddenly between 5 - 15 days following the bite of an infected mosquito and range from a slight fever, headache, rash, swollen lymph nodes, nausea, malaise and eye pain, to the rapid onset of severe headache, high fever, stiff neck, disorientation, severe muscle weakness, gastrointestinal symptoms, coma or death. The department encourages residents to take precautions by getting rid of standing water, using insect repellents, making sure doors and windows have tight-fitting screens.
