O'Brien said: "He was a Group Two victor as a two-year-old on hard ground at Goodwood". They clearly think the world of her, and I hope they are right. Ryan Moore kept the Galileo star in second and turned him loose in the homestretch.

He was a very smart 2yo, his best run coming with a third in the Lagardere, but he surprised me a bit with the convincing manner of his win in the Free Handicap on his return.

"It looked like Ulysses had gone past him, but he battled back and it was no disgrace being beaten by Highland Reel".

"Who knows, it would be great if we could get her here".

It was a first ever win in the race for jockey Moore.

Both Buick, and Fahey, were greeted by Sheikh Mohammed whose Godolphin operation has struggled to keep pace with rivals like Coolmore in recent times - however, this victory came 40 years to the day after Hatta was his first ever victor in Britain.

"Fair play to Aidan to keep bringing him back". It was a tough performance at Epsom and another one today. "He has pace, courage, tactical speed, just a brilliant horse".

Godolphin won three races on the opening day, including the St. James's Palace Stakes with 5-2 shot Barney Roy as favorite Churchill finished fourth in the signature race. Qemah was a striking victor of the Coronation Stakes a year ago and should not be judged too harshly on her below-par comeback run at Lingfield as she was said to be short of work and the race unfolded against her.

Wesley Ward's wait for a second victor to compliment Lady Aurelia's King's Stand success on Tuesday was not delayed long, though, with Jamie Spencer bringing the 20/1 shot Con Te Partiro from last to first in the Sandringham Handicap.

Lady Aurelia was devastating in the King's Stand, her second Royal Ascot victory after producing a similar performance past year when winning the Queen Mary Stakes. "Every time, he turns up in big races over a mile, 10 furlongs and 12 furlongs".

"He loves that fast ground and I'd imagine we'll go to the Sussex Stakes next. He had every chance in the straight".

Dettori said missing Ascot was "soul-destroying" and his mood would not have improved as his top ride for the day, Lady Aurelia, blitzed the field under Johnny Velazquez to win the King's Stand Stakes in nearly as impressive style as she had in the Queen Mary Stakes under the Italian past year.

Earlier, Heartache upset odds-on favourite Happy Like A Fool to win the Queen Mary Stakes by two and a half lengths for jockey Adam Kirby and trainer Clive Cox.
