Some of the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire have been "sleeping in their cars and in parks", the MP for Kensington has claimed. "Somebody told me this morning they are still this morning running around like headless chickens - that was something somebody from the inside (said)". "I'm afraid to go to sleep because if I sleep and something happens, I might not know about it".

A spokesman for Newham council said it had begun reviewing the cladding on towers including Ferrier Point in Canning Town, which was also refurbished with new cladding by Harley Facades, the same company that worked on Grenfell Tower.

Councillor Jayne Dunn, cabinet member for neighbourhoods and community safety, said: "We have done a huge amount of work in recent years to make sure our tower blocks are safe".

Jim Glockling, technical director at the Fire Protection Association, criticised the design process that allows flammable cladding to be used. In the meantime, people are being advised to follow London Fire Brigade's official advice about how to prevent and react to fires.

Authorities are carrying out housing need assessments before offering apartments to those made homeless by the fire, with 110 done so far.
