The game went ahead as scheduled Thursday, in an emotional display of bipartisan unity.
Representatives for MedStar Washington Hospital Center and Scalise offered no updates on his condition on Thursday morning.
The hospital said Saturday Scalise is more responsive and speaking with his loved ones.
On Thursday, the hospital reiterated that Scalise will need more operations and will be in the hospital "for some time".
A source said investigators are not sure of the significance of the names and it is not clear whether this was a list of people the attacker was targeting.

"When he arrived he was in critical condition with an imminent risk of death", Sava said, adding that the Louisiana lawmaker is expected to be in the hospital for weeks. "An excellent recovery is a good possibility".
Five people were injured, including MI native Matt Mika and U.S. Rep Steve Scalise, R-Louisiana, who remain in critical condition.
The bullet entered Scalise's left hip and tore across his pelvis, cracking bones and injuring organs and blood vessels.
The gunman, 66-year-old James T. Hodgkinson of Belleville, Illinois, was shot and killed by responding officers.
Sava said Friday that there are hundreds of bullet fragments in Scalise's body.
Hodgkinson also contacted the office of Rep. Mike Bost, R-Ill., at least 10 times over the past year, a Bost spokesman has said, characterizing the emails and phone calls as negative but not threatening.
"I feel a lot more confident and a lot more optimistic than I did two, three days ago", Sava said.
"As far as winning and losing, I think that's far from anybody's mind right now", Flake said.
Members of Congress took the field at Washington's Nationals Park on Thursday night for the game, many wearing hats to honor Scalise. Six people were injured during the attack, including two congressmen, a congressional aide, a lobbyist and two police officers.
A Washington Metropolitan Police Department report says the officer was manning a traffic checkpoint when the driver failed to obey repeated orders to stop.
