"That is why Thackeray has expressed the party's position in such terms that it does not look too happy with the BJP choice, nor appears anti-Dalit", the Sena leader said. One was of (RSS chief) Mohan Bhagwat. Shah had called on Thackeray at his residence here yesterday.

When asked about Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' remark that the BJP was prepared for snap assembly election, in an apparent reference to continued strain in ties with the Shiv Sena, Shah said, "What he meant was that if mid-term polls are forced on us, we are ready to fight".

With the Sena releasing how much the BJP's needs it for July's presidential polls, the saffron party is pushing the BJP for a hard bargain.

In fact, on at least two previous occasions, the Sena had jolted the NDA by supporting Congress nominees - former President Pratibha Patil in 2009 and later current President Pranab Mukherjee in 2012.

The BJP government in the State has been under continuous fire from its ally Shiv Sena, ever since they came to power in October 2014.

Addressing the media at Vasant Smruti, the BJP office at Dadar, Shah elaborated on the achievements of the Narendra Modi regime at the Centre and the state government in Maharashtra. Mr Shah is expected to formally seek the Sena's support for the NDA's presidential candidate - a mission for which the BJP has also reached out to the opposition. "In the current scenario, the Sena is still out safest bet for a stable state government", a senior BJP minister said. "Uddhav Thackeray ji has said that for Shiv Sena Mohan Bhagwat ji is the deserving candidate for the post of President of the nation and the party collectively bats for him", he added.

The BJP-led NDA (including Sena) has total of 52 MPs.

Sena has never indulged in the politics of hiding behind someone.

In an embarrassment for the ruling BJP, its ally Shiv Sena has virtually joined ranks with the state opposition parties demanding complete loan waiver for farmers and on other major issues confronting the state. The total value of MP votes of the UPA is 10,620.

"These (BJP/Parivar) people should focus their attention there and think of how you will win the war in J&K, and ensure that the sacrifices of our soldiers don't go in vain". If polls are held then I am confident that we will emerge victorious.

"Whatever has to happen with the mid-term election in Maharashtra will happen".

The Fadnavis government had agreed to the long-standing demand of farmers and announced a loan waiver for them last Sunday. I have informed him about everything happening in the connection of presidential elections.
