Republican candidate for 6th congressional district Karen Handel speaks at a campaign event where she was joined by House Speaker Paul Ryan in Dunwoody, Ga., Monday, May 15, 2017. She is facing off against Democrat Jon Ossoff, who is running as a moderate.

Democrat Jon Ossoff hired security after receiving threats.

The ad, which includes an image of United States comedian Kathy Griffin holding a fake severed head that looks like Mr Trump, claims "these same leftists are all for Ossoff, and he wins, they win".

In Georgia on Tuesday, if Democrats hope for a thaw, they need to post a win. The bloody imagery and brutally anti-right attitudes are explicitly linked to Ossoff and the narrator ends with, "Stop Jon Ossoff".

We must preserve this seat by turning out on Election Day to vote for Karen Handel to be the next representative for Georgia's Sixth District.

Democrat Jon Ossoff and Ms Handel are running for a House seat vacated by U.S. health secretary Tom Price.

Ossoff has tried to tap into some of the anti-Trump mood, launching his campaign with a call to "Make Trump Furious". "The man is fighting for his life", he said. "I think it's disgraceful to politicize it, and I think Secretary Handel should call for it to come down", Ossof told reporters.

Handel, who's received 45 percent of her money from within the state, has hit Ossoff on the issue - voters in Georgia, she said earlier this month, "are not interested in people from California, Massachusetts and NY buying this seat".

However, Carver isn't alone in thinking the shooting could be beneficial for political gains.

The suspect, identified as James T Hodgkinson, allegedly opened fire on Republican lawmakers as they practised for an annual congressional charity baseball game. Principled PAC aren't the only ones who see opportunity in the tragedy.

A Georgia GOP chairman said Republican congressional candidate Karen Handel will benefit from last week's shooting in Alexandria, Virginia that wounded Rep. Steve Scalise and several staffers and law enforcement officers. Additionally, a victory by Handel would send a signal to other Republicans in moderate districts that they can withstand a strong general election challenge in 2018.

"We're seeing absolute resistance to everything this president does", he added.

The president has tweeted before that Ossoff is a "super Liberal Democrat" that "wants to protect criminals, allow illegal immigration and raise taxes!"

"It's not going to be a blowout".

"It's a race that we have to win", said Georgia state Sen. In special congressional elections in Kansas and Montana they've strained to see green shoots. Also on Tuesday is a race in SC, which Republicans are expected to win handily, for a replacement for Republican Mick Mulvaney, now Trump's budget director.
