Trump Is Now Under Investigation for Obstruction of Justice

Trump told NBC in an interview two days after he dismissed Comey, "I'm not talking about campaigns or anything else because I'm not under investigation".

The president tweeted Friday, "Despite the phony Witch Hunt going on in America, the economic & jobs numbers are great".

The top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee says she is "increasingly concerned" that President Donald Trump will attempt to fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

The White House is referring all questions regarding the Russian investigation to Trump's outside attorney Marc Kasowitz.

Mueller is also investigating whether President Donald Trump attempted to obstruct justice, The Washington Post reported Wednesday. Mueller also has expansive powers to investigate any matters that develop from his initial investigation.

While FBI Director James Comey told President Trump on three separate occasions that he was not personally under investigation for colluding with Russians in the 2016 election, that's NOT necessarily the case anymore.

"I appointed him; I stand by that decision, " he said. "That's undemocratic on its face and a blatant violation of the president's oath of office".

Rosenstein took over the Russian Federation probe soon after Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself. He also praised Rosenstein in an interview after Comey was let go.

Asked about the possibility that an investigation has since developed and the president just does not know, Sekulow said: "I can't read people's minds, but I can tell you this, we have not been notified that there's an investigation to the president of the United States".

Trump demonstrated Friday morning that the Russian Federation probe continues to consume his attention, tweeting a stream of messages decrying the controversy.

The order by the general counsel for the transition team casts a wide net on documents that could shed light on ties between Trump's presidential campaign and representatives of Russia's government.

The Post reported that FBI agents and federal prosecutors are also looking into the financial dealings of Flynn, former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and former campaign policy adviser Carter Page.

The committee sent a bipartisan letter this month to White House counsel Don McGahn seeking an answer by this Friday.

The order came the same day that Vice President Mike Pence hired an outside lawyer to represent his legal interests.

Trump's tweet comes less than a day after a odd statement from a senior official in his administration.

Mr Mueller was appointed as special counsel to investigate Moscow's involvement in the presidential election previous year and possible collusion by Trump campaign associates with the Russians, but there has been no indication that Mr Mueller told the president to fire Mr Comey. The memo asks for preservation of electronic communications and data, telephone logs, audio recordings, videos, calendars and other items.
