GOP's Scalise Upgraded to Serious Condition After More Surgery


Top US Republican lawmaker Steve Scalise continued to show improvement as he recovers from being shot by a gunman angry about President Donald Trump, the hospital treating him said Saturday. "Thank you for the continued prayers, support and outpouring of love", his family wrote in a tweet, with pictures of the congressman and his children attached. But he stopped short of providing specifics of Scalise's internal injuries. Hodgkinson of IL, died after being shot by Capitol Police officers.

Louisiana congressman Steve Scalise has been upgraded from "critical" to "serious condition". Saturday's update said Scalise is now in "serious condition". Hodgkinson was killed by capitol police. The bullet that struck Scalise "travelled across his pelvis, fracturing bones, injuring internal organs, and causing severe bleeding", his doctors said.

Law enforcement officials have said they found a list of Republican lawmakers' names on the body of James Hodgkinson, who apparently had been in the Washington area for several months stalking his targets. The person did not disclose the names, but said those listed had been briefed.

"I feel a lot more optimistic than I did two or three days ago".

According to the spokesperson, Scalise underwent another surgery on Saturday. It includes photos of Scalise and his family.

House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., paid a visit to his injured colleague at the hospital Friday. Authorities were investigating Hodgkinson's social media posts, a cellphone, computer and camera.

Congressman Scalise was among five people wounded in the attack.

Bailey was spotted Friday in the Capitol, on crutches and out of uniform, accepting congratulations from fellow officers.

Two other people injured in Wednesday's attack in Alexandria, Va., remain hospitalized.
