GOP Shooter Had List of House Republicans' Names

The man who shot senior Republican congressman Steve Scalise and others at a congressional baseball practice session this week had a list containing the names of three politicians, officials said.

Hodgkinson, from IL, who had lashed out against U.S. president Donald Trump and other Republicans over social media, was killed by Mr Scalise's security detail and other police officers.

The GOP house majority whip is recovering at the Medstar Washington Hospital Centre after being shot in the left hip.

Lobbyist Matt Mika, who was shot several times and critically wounded, has undergone additional surgery and doctors expect a full recovery, his family said.

Scalise was shot in the hip, and the bullet damaged bone, blood vessels and internal organs. He added that Scalise would be in the hospital "for some time" and would need "a period of healing and rehabilitation" after being discharged.

The American Hospital Association defines "critical" condition as: "Vital signs are unstable and not within normal limits".

Mr Scalise was among five people wounded in the shooting.

The House majority whip remains in serious condition at Medstar Washington Hospital Center. Capitol Police officer David Bailey and Texas Rep. Roger Williams were also injured during the incident.

He is now in serious condition, an improvement from the critical condition he was in since his first surgery on Wednesday.

The FBI said it was investigating the shooter's "activities and social media impressions" in the months leading up to the attack.

Investigators say Hodgkinson shot House Rep. Steve Scalise on Wednesday before he was killed by police who had been guarding Scalise on the Alexandria, Virginia, baseball field.
