Jurors considering the fate of Bill Cosby at his sexual assault trial asked for a definition of "reasonable doubt" on their fifth day of deliberations Friday, a day after telling the judge they were deadlocked on all charges. Cosby has denied any wrongdoing.
The trial started on June 5.
During the closing arguments of comedian Bill Cosby's sexual-assault trial on Monday, Cosby's leading lawyer turned to his client's wife, Camille, and said she "deserved better". Dozens of women have accused him of crimes but only Constand's led to criminal charges. They called a second woman, Kelly Johnson, to testify he sexually assaulted her in 1996 and showed jurors his deposition testimony in which he admitted giving young women sedatives in the 1970s. The final prosecution witness, toxicologist Dr. Timothy Rohrig, testified that wooziness and other effects Ms. Constand described could have been caused by Benadryl or Quaaludes.
"Sexual assault is nothing I take lightly or that I condone in any way shape or form, but he is still a father, someone's husband", she said. "It wasn't an angry stop". "Simply, you're exhausted, and I respect that", O'Neill said.
"They're conflicted about the inconsistencies in Ms. Constand's testimony", he told reporters on Thursday.
Constand was challenged by Angela Agrusa, one of Cosby's attorneys. Gianna Constand wiped away tears at times.More news: Shot US congressman still 'critical' but improving: doctor
He purchased a $250 hair dryer and encouraged her to change her hairstyle, Mr. Cosby said. Prosecutors rejected filing a case against Cosby based on Goins' allegations, which they said investigators could not corroborate.
Constand's lawyer, Dolores Troiani, said only that the "jury is apparently working very hard". "Although I can not recall the specific year, there was an occasion I recall the television was on".
Ms. Constand has claimed that after taking the pills, she passed out.
If Cosby is found guilty, Pulliam said she would be "disappointed", adding, "I'm gonna have to just cross that bridge when I come to it".
Prosecutors have portrayed Cosby as a serial predator. Also on Wednesday, the jury requested to hear extended excerpts of Constand's testimony about the night when she says he drugged and molested her. He also questioned whether she had taken drugs like LSD. They pointed to Ms Constand's initial statement to police in 2005 that she had never been alone with him beforehand and cut off all contact afterward, both untrue.
Cosby is charged with three counts of aggravated indecent assault. "I can see only one objective for him coming here to do that, and that is to defame our client, and that is the goal of Mr. Cosby and his publicist".
